Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 6, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes Our policies and procedures on the collection, use and disclosure of Your information when You use the Service and tells You about Your privacy rights and how the law protects You.

This policy covers both MetroBadminton properties: the venue directory at www.badmintoncourt.au and the session organiser tool at play.badmintoncourt.au ("MetroBadminton Play"), which are run by the same team and share the same analytics setup.

We use Your Personal data to provide and improve the Service. By using the Service, You agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Collecting and Using Your Personal Data

Types of Data Collected

Personal Data

We do not collect any personally identifiable information from general visitors. However, if you choose to contact us using the Contact Us form, we may collect:

  • Your email address (if you choose to provide it)

We use this information solely to respond to your enquiry. We do not use it for marketing, and we do not share or sell it to third parties.

MetroBadminton Play

MetroBadminton Play lets you create a session page and run rounds for a group without an account or sign-up. When you use it, we collect:

  • Player names you or your organiser add to a session, along with match results and session details (date, venue, courts). This is stored so the session page works — it is not linked to any other identity or profile.
  • Your email address, only if you use the "email me my link" feature to recover your organiser link. This address is used once to send that email via our provider, Resend, and is not stored in our database.
  • Feedback you optionally submit about a session (a rating and comment), which is not linked to your name or email.

Session data (players, rounds, results) is retained so the organiser and players can refer back to it, and is deleted on request — see "Contact Us" below.

Usage Data

Usage Data is collected automatically when using the Service.

Usage Data may include information such as Your Device's Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address), browser type, browser version, the pages of our Service that You visit, the time and date of Your visit, the time spent on those pages, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.

When You access the Service by or through a mobile device, We may collect certain information automatically, including, but not limited to, the type of mobile device You use, Your mobile device unique ID, the IP address of Your mobile device, Your mobile operating system, the type of mobile Internet browser You use, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.

We may also collect information that Your browser sends whenever You visit our Service or when You access the Service by or through a mobile device.

Tracking Technologies and Cookies

Our website uses cookies and similar tracking technologies primarily for essential functionality and to understand how visitors use our service through analytics. We do not use cookies for third-party advertising, ad personalization, or cross-site tracking, and we do not sell or share data with data brokers. The tools we use are:

  • Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand aggregate traffic patterns, such as which pages are visited and for how long. Google Signals and ad personalization features are not enabled, so this data is not used for advertising or combined with your Google ad profile. See Google's Privacy Policy, or opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
  • PostHog. We use PostHog for product analytics (page views and on-site interactions) to understand how the Service is used and to fix issues. Anonymous visitors are not linked to an identified person profile unless you take an identifying action (such as submitting a form). See PostHog's Privacy Policy.
  • Essential cookies and local storage. Small files, or data stored in your browser's local storage, necessary for the website and MetroBadminton Play to function correctly (for example, MetroBadminton Play stores your organiser token in local storage so it can recognize the sessions you manage).

Cookies can be "Persistent" or "Session" Cookies. Persistent Cookies remain on Your device when You go offline, while Session Cookies are deleted as soon as You close Your browser. You can instruct your browser to refuse cookies or clear local storage, though some parts of the Service — including your MetroBadminton Play organiser access — may not function correctly without them. You can also manage or opt out of analytics using the links above or your browser's privacy settings.

Use of Information

Emails submitted through the contact form are used only to respond to your message. Session data in MetroBadminton Play (player names, results) is used only to run and display that session. Analytics data helps us improve the site and monitor usage trends. We do not sell, rent, or disclose any information to third parties, and we do not use any information for advertising.

Third-Party Service Providers

We use a small number of third parties to operate the Service, each of which only processes data on our behalf for the purpose described:

  • Google Analytics and PostHog — website and product analytics, described above.
  • Resend — sends the one-off "email me my link" message in MetroBadminton Play. Resend does not retain your address on our behalf beyond what's needed to deliver that email.
  • Supabase — hosts the database behind MetroBadminton Play (session, player, and results data).
  • Vercel — hosts both the website and MetroBadminton Play.

Your Rights and Data Deletion

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete Personal Data we hold about you — for example, to have a MetroBadminton Play session or player name removed — by contacting us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time.

Security of Your Personal Data

The security of Your Personal Data is important to Us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While We strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect Your Personal Data, We cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Children's Privacy

Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13. If You are a parent or guardian and You are aware that Your child has provided Us with Personal Data, please contact Us. If We become aware that We have collected Personal Data from anyone under the age of 13 without verification of parental consent, We take steps to remove that information from Our servers.

If We need to rely on consent as a legal basis for processing Your information and Your country requires consent from a parent, We may require Your parent's consent before We collect and use that information.

Links to Other Websites

Our Service may contain links to other websites that are not operated by Us. If You click on a third party link, You will be directed to that third party's site. We strongly advise You to review the Privacy Policy of every site You visit.

We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third party sites or services.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update Our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify You of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date at the top.

You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
